I'm Melissa Teeple, owner of Magic Storm Art, LLC

(and my beloved belated Ebony)

About Me and FAQ

I am a full time certified Medical Coder, part time music leader, and full time wife and pet mom. I was still crazy enough to start this business out of my love for art and gaming.

We have a human need to play and create, even when we become adults. It is a great way to interact with our kids and students, and it's great for our overall wellbeing to sometimes be a kid at heart. I love the hobby of art, figures, and games, because it bridges the gap between ages. My husband and I still play at R U Game? in Saline, MI, and people ages 12-80s come to play games. The owner of the store is graciously supportive of local artists, and despite having an over 30 year history as a hobbyist artist, that's how this journey for me began. I am so grateful that I can bring my love for gaming, art, and figures to others in the community. It's not really a very profitable hobby to be honest. It often can cost more than it earns. A lot goes back into materials and I can't really cover my time. I do my best to keep pricing as low as I possibly can. But I love doing it and sharing it with others!

What makes an independent artist different than ordering on mass produced sites?

-          Helping a small business

-          Handcrafted products locally made

-          I'd like to say better quality control, but artists are human and things happen. But we do our best to put out                      products that we are proud of! It's about creating a name and not only a bottom line. But it is something that my       husband (prev Mi3DSAMA) and I hear VERY frequently that our products are better quality than what is found online. Many times on mass produced sites, you can find similar items. But often the licenses aren't being paid to the creators for them, and they are quickly produced and visibly very poor quality.

How pricing is determined?

-          Material cost

-          Maintenance time and cost of machines

-          Design time if applicable

-          Licensing cost

-          Preprocessing time in CAD and slicer software

-          Postprocessing to remove supports and clean up prints

-          State licensing

-          To be honest, I can't really charge to cover my time. Many small artists can't.

What is licensing?

While some designs I do design and make myself, I pay several other artists for their designs as well and I do all the production and painting. This is often done through Patreon and similar sites. So when you are supporting me, you    are supporting other artists as well!

How are your items categorized?

These are marketed as art pieces, not toys, although children often do buy them. Items are not intended for rough play. Some models are more durable than others such as the crystal dragons and many of the 3 segment minis without poseable legs and tails. We have nephew tested many of them, but we don't market these as for young children or as toys. Please be advised however that in compliance with small parts warnings, our items are not recommended for children under 3.

Where do you ship?

Currently I am registered with a sales tax license for Michigan, so I can only ship to Michigan addresses through the site. If you need shipment to another state, at this time I can set up a custom listing for you on ebay or Etsy.

Do you accept returns?

Typically, no. I'm an artist, not a retailer. I make every piece that I sell. All Sales Are Final except in rare circumstances where there is a manufacturing defect determined by Magic Storm Art.

Thank you so much for your support!
